Great tasting vegetables are a must alongside turkey and trimmings for the festive feast. But making sure there is plenty of colour on your Christmas plate needn't be hard work.

- Roast Potatoes - For the perfect roasters, part boil, drain and shake in the pan, add to hot fat and cook until golden and crispy
- Mash - Add a twist to your mash potato by stirring in a handful of chopped spring onion
- Roast Parsnips - Adding a drizzle of honey to your parsnips will give them a deliciously sweet flavour
- Creamed Swede - A pinch of nutmeg will add a little festive spice to this traditional dish
- Sprouts - After cooking toss in a little butter and add crispy bacon bits and a handful of hazlenuts.
- Green Beans - Get the best out of your beans by simply steaming them to keep them nice and crisp
- Carrots - Cut into fingers and boil in water with a teaspoon each of salt and sugar, drain and season with black pepper and a knob of butter
- Red Cabbage - For cabbage with a difference, slice your cabbage and braise it by frying with a dash of red wine
- Sweet Potatoes - Simply cut into chunky pieces and roast with your potatoes
- Broccoli - Boil your broccoli spears until tender, drain and then sprinkle with sesame seeds. For extra flavour, why not add a dash of soy sauce too?
